Overview
WakeMed Physician Practices is a multi-specialty group with over 500 physicians in a variety of specialty areas. Our organization places a high value on quality, caring and compassionate physicians and we are committed to providing state-of-the-art health care to our patients and the community we serve.
WakeMed has three acute care hospitals and a physical rehabilitation hospital for a total of 970-beds. We also have three healthplexes with stand-alone, 24/7 emergency departments and a variety of outpatient services throughout the region. Our physician practices are home to more than 500 physicians representing nearly every specialty.
WakeMed is seeking a Medical Director of Trauma Services to provide clinical, operational, research and strategic leadership for the trauma program at WakeMed, Level I Trauma Center (Raleigh). The general surgery & trauma team at WakeMed currently consists of 26 surgeons, residents and Advanced Practice Providers (APPs). Our surgeons provide trauma/emergency general surgery. This role is responsible for ensuring high-quality, evidence-based care for injured patients across the continuum-from pre-hospital through rehabilitation-while maintaining compliance with ACS and state trauma designation standards and advancing performance, research, and prevention initiatives. The director for will be responsible for achieving and ensuring ACS level I trauma accreditation. Position will be structured as .50 FTE administrative and .50 FTE clinical within the general surgery/trauma team.
