Trading Assistant

Location: Houston, Texas, United States

We are looking for recent graduates who are detail-oriented and proactive to fill the role of Trading Assistants. In this position, you will support traders by reviewing and recording transactions, conducting research, and providing administrative assistance in a fast-paced environment. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work well under pressure.

Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for daily trade entries into trading management systems and ERP as they are executed.
  • Check physical and derivatives confirmations from counterparties/brokers and alert traders of any discrepancies.
  • Check physical and derivatives contract reports and the settlement reports received from Operators against the trader's records and the ERP system for accuracy.
  • Collaborate closely with the traders to develop an understanding of the market and related counterparties, grades, market movements, and instruments.
  • Obtain an understanding of daily operations to enable a better interface between the operations team and trading departments.
  • Collaborate closely with other internal departments to resolve trade-related matters.
  • Ensure that all financial discrepancies or losses are documented with supporting evidence and communicated to management.
  • Implement and monitor corrective actions to mitigate future financial risks or recurring losses.
  • Ensure that all data and operational inputs are accurate, timely, and standardized across systems.
  • Develop knowledge and understanding of the market.
  • Support Traders and Analysts in preparing internal reports, filing documents, managing trading records, and market analysis.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Economics, or related field.
  • Master's degree in a relevant field is a plus.
  • Fluency in English and Mandarin Chinese is preferred.
  • Internship or some experience in an oil and gas company preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong analytical skills and technical skills, i.e., Python or other coding tools.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and a quick learner.
