The Assistant Director of Marketing, VandalStore Retail and E-commerce leads day-to-day marketing operations for the VandalStore, including in-store and digital commerce marketing, promotions planning, campaign execution and continuous improvement across vandalstore.com. Reporting to the Director of Business Development, Marketing and Communications for Auxiliary Services, this position works in close partnership with the VandalStore Chief Retail and Merchandising Administrator and store leadership to align marketing strategy with business priorities, product planning and the customer experience.
Position Overview
This role is designed to assume primary ownership of the VandalStore's marketing calendar and execution, reducing the routine marketing workload carried by store leadership and ensuring consistent, timely and high-quality delivery across channels. The assistant director collaborates on major seasonal initiatives and high-visibility promotions while independently directing most day-to-day retail and e-commerce marketing activity, supported by interns and junior marketing staff.

Position Qualifications
Required Experience
  • Four years of professional marketing experience with increasing responsibility for planning and executing multi-channel campaigns
  • Experience managing day-to-day marketing operations for a consumer-facing brand in a retail or e-commerce environment
  • Experience partnering with business leaders and cross-functional teams to prioritize work, meet deadlines and deliver results in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience producing or coordinating customer-facing marketing assets, including in-store marketing materials, digital content and promotional communications
  • Experience supervising, training or coordinating staff
  • Experience maintaining and updating website content, including working knowledge of HTML to edit homepage features, promotional modules, links, banners and time-sensitive messaging
  • Experience working within brand standards and compliance requirements, including trademark and licensing considerations or comparable brand-governance processes
Required Education
  • High School diploma or equivalent
Required Other
  • Possess a valid driver's license and be able to meet policy requirements for driving university-owned vehicles
  • Ability to work nonstandard business hours, including weekends and holidays
  • Ability to travel
Additional Preferred
  • Ability to use data and performance insights to inform recommendations, improve outcomes and support decision-making
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, especially Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop
  • Strong writing and editing skills for customer-facing messaging across email, web and in-store channels
  • Familiarity with brand standards and trademark licensing workflows or comparable brand-governance requirements.
Experience in/with:
  • Leading retail and e-commerce marketing with a high-volume promotions calendar
  • Improving digital commerce performance through testing, optimization and performance reporting
  • Managing paid media campaigns and budgets, including audience targeting, flighting and optimization
  • Website content management and campaign execution, including landing pages, promotional modules and time-sensitive updates
  • Partnering with buyers or merchandise teams to plan campaigns and storytelling before product arrives
  • Coordinating product photography or creative production for apparel and merchandise
  • Evaluating new marketing tools, including automation and AI-enabled workflows, to improve speed and effectiveness
