Job description

Technical Solutions Inc. is currently seeking an Electrical Engineer for our client, a quality engineering and construction management services provider. This is a full-time opening in their Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania office to design and implement heavy industrial facility electrical systems.
Electrical Engineer Responsibilities:
  • Designing, implementing, or improving electrical instruments, facilities, components, equipment products, or systems for heavy industrial facilities.
  • Experience working in heavy industrial facilities and performing field investigations and assessments.
  • Ability to complete low & medium voltage power systems, instrumentation, and controls designs.
  • Working knowledge of Power System analysis software such as ETAP and/or SKM.
  • Protective Device Relay configuration/programming experience is a plus.
  • Performing a wide range of engineering tasks via computer-assisted design or other engineering software and equipment.
  • Conferring with customers, engineers, and others to discuss existing or potential engineering products or projects.
  • Ensuring that installation and operations conform to standards and customer requirements by preparing electrical systems specifications, and technical drawings.
  • Establishing construction, manufacturing, or installation standards or specifications by performing a wide range of detailed calculations.
  • Ensuring compliance with specifications, codes, or customer requirements by directing or coordinating installation, manufacturing, construction, maintenance, documentation, support, or testing activities.
  • Writing reports and compiling data regarding existing and potential electrical engineering projects and studies.
  • Preparing specifications for purchases of electrical equipment and materials.
  • Supervising or training project team members.
  • Estimating material, labor, or construction costs for budget preparation.
  • Design, control, and implement electrical systems and products.
  • Manage engineering projects and deliver them on time.
  • Define customer needs and requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineers and technicians to design and apply new system processes.
  • Examine needs on new equipment, calculate costs and help prepare budgets.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited school.
  • 5-10 years relevant work experience, including internship or cooperative program experience.
  • EIT is needed and PE is heavily desired
  • Knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC) and IEEE standards.
  • Proficient in design and calculation software.
  • Proven expertise as an electrical engineer.
  • Problem-solving abilities.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
