Job description

Overview
The Virtual Server Engineering (VSE) team provides infrastructure design, implementation, and management for virtualized infrastructure and the supporting physical server infrastructure. These services include virtualization platforms, disaster recovery, migration, automation, monitoring, and optimization of the virtual environment.
Virtual Server Engineering uses Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles and engineering discipline to design, build and maintain large-scale Virtual Environments with high efficiency and availability using the combination of software and systems engineering practices. In this position, you will leverage an SRE mindset and a set of engineering approaches to running better production systems and optimizations, with efforts focused on limiting time spent on reactive operational work, eliminating manual work through automation, performance tuning, and growing the efficiency of production systems. VSEs' culture of diversity, intellectual curiosity, creative problem-solving, and openness is essential to its success. Our organization brings together people with various backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. We encourage everyone to collaborate, both within and outside our team, think big, and take risks in a blame-free environment. • Identify opportunities to leverage and implement automation and Infrastructure as Code to provision and maintain our virtual environment and increase customer enablement. Leverage automation to reduce the number of manual processes performed to have more time to focus on value-added work.
  • Support and maintain services and systems before they go live and when in production, including monitoring availability, latency, performance, and overall system health.
  • Contribute to systematic exploration, discovery, and recommendation of new and emerging technologies pertaining to VSEs' services.
  • Create, update, and maintain documentation reflecting all virtual environments' architecture, configuration, and operation.
  • Provide incident and ticket responses and participate in an On-Call rotation.
