Position Overview:
The Technical Product Manager for application development governance maintains and governs internal and other compliance driven processes and procedures within the application development space, including SDLC. They define and measure success KPIs and use those metrics to propose process improvement/efficiencies across application development. They collaborate with IT, Business, and Operations teams, and look for automation opportunities across interdependent processes. They maintain a roadmap for all internal and compliance driven processes and procedures documentation for application development. They continuously monitor for adherence to processes and procedures.
Essential Responsibilities:
  • 40% - Defines the milestones and tasks for team efforts based on information gathered from team members, business partners, and vendors. Tracks and presents progress, identifies opportunities, remediates roadblocks, and aligns efforts based on priority. Maintains effort roadmap and reviews with management and more senior Technical Product Managers to ensure alignment with larger strategic initiatives and BAU required work. Works closely with management to alert of any potential concerns. Coordinates implementations and training strategies. Supports many efforts of all ranges of complexities and stands in for other Technical Product Managers of like or less complex responsibilities.
  • 20% - Leads planning, maintenance, and communication of efforts extending up to 18 months, utilizing product/system/project roadmaps and integrated systems roadmaps to anticipate future needs, proactively identifying complex constraints or training needs and supporting management in addressing these concerns. Collaborates strategically with Business Owners/Manager, EPMO, and other IT peers to ensure long-term success while also ensuring technical feasibility, strategic alignment, and adhering to regulatory requirements, including influencing critical business decisions.
  • 10% - Defines and owns the metric requirements for tracking comprehensive measurement of the effectiveness of efforts. Measure performance against strategic KPIs, conducting in-depth trend analyses to uncover complex insights and opportunities, and proactively presenting data-driven recommendations and strategic implications to management, senior and executive leadership and other IT and Business partners.
  • 10% - Defines and proactively communicates current and future process improvement opportunities and best practices within the team and department, placing strong emphasis on identifying and evangelizing opportunities for reusability and automation while ensuring risk mitigation strategies are considered. Communicating and presenting these opportunities and recommendations to peers, management, senior leadership, and executive leadership. This includes tailoring communication strategies for different audiences and ensuring a clear understanding based on their expertise.
  • 10% - Define, refine, and ensure consistent adherence to department and organization Policies, Standards, Technical Guidelines and formally defined processes and procedures, with a strong emphasis on embedding and enforcing security and privacy policies. Keep up to date with evolving industry standards, and present findings to management.
  • 10% - Observe, discuss with individual team members on, and report on skills gaps within team to management, aligning these initiatives directly with evolving roadmaps and prioritized efforts. Determine and present on potential mentorship opportunities, collaborating with internal and external peers. Champion these initiatives by demonstrating clear ROI and impact on team maturation. Coaching team members on opportunities for professional growth.

Required Education & Experience (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities):
  • Bachelor's degree in computer sciences or related field
  • 5 years of experience in technical product manager or similar product management role
  • Advanced knowledge of project management, withing a technical or software development environment.
  • Strong working experience with project management methodologies like Agile, Waterfall, and Mixed
  • Strong understanding of Development Lifecycles with emphasis on security
  • Advanced organizational skills including attention to detail, excellent verbal and written communication skills, problem-solving abilities and leadership qualities.
  • Working Knowledge of Jira, Confluence, Lucid Charts/Visio, or BMC Helix
  • Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree

Preferred Education & Experience (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities):
  • 5 + years' experience in technical product manager or similar product management role or with project management foundation
  • PMP certification or
  • CAPM or
  • CSM
  • Strong professional experience with Jira, Confluence, Lucid Charts/Visio, MS Project, and BMC Helix
  • Experience creating presentable metrics through PowerBI
  • Lean Six Sigma certification
  • Bachelor's degree, associate's degree or 5 years of project management experience or certification

Job Environment & Physical Requirements:
  • Hybrid work environment with two days in the office and three days working from home or as required for in person meetings. Note that this may change at any time and prospective candidates must be willing to work in the office full time if the SECU hybrid work policy were to change.
