  • Starting pay: $27.00 - $29.00
  • Full Pay Range: $27.00 - $37.00/hour (employee may earn up to $37.00/hr with continued employment)

About the Role
Associated Recreation Council (ARC), in partnership with Seattle Parks and Recreation, is seeking a calm, skilled, and supportive Tai Chi Instructor to lead wellness programming for older adults. Tai Chi is a gentle, low-impact practice that promotes balance, flexibility, mindfulness, and overall well-being-making it an ideal offering for our Senior Adults programs.
These opportunities are for on-site, in-person instruction only.
This year-round, part-time role is perfect for an instructor who is passionate about mindful movement, healthy aging, and creating a welcoming environment for participants of all experience levels.

Instructor Tai Chi duties and responsibilities include:
  • Lead Tai Chi classes tailored to senior adults, focusing on slow, controlled movement and breathwork.
  • Teach foundational forms, balance exercises, and mindful movement sequences.
  • Provide modifications and guidance to support participants with varying mobility and fitness levels.
  • Foster a calm, inclusive, and supportive class environment.
  • Ensure participant safety by monitoring movement and offering adjustments as needed.
  • Manage class setup and cleanup.
  • Maintain attendance records and complete required administrative documentation.

Instructor Tai Chi requirements include:
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Experience teaching Tai Chi or related mindful movement practices (e.g., Qigong).
  • Experience working with older adults preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to create a peaceful, encouraging, and accessible class environment.
