Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for Systems Engineer/Modeling Simulation 2/3 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Air Dominance organization. This role is located in Melbourne, FL.

This position can be filled at either a level 2 or a level 3.

As a Systems Engineer 2/3 - Mod & Sim, the candidate will support the development and maintenance of system-level modeling and simulation architectures used to design, analyze, and verify complex aerospace systems. Working under the guidance of senior engineers, the individual will help define key capabilities and performance requirements for the Mod & Sim environment, assist with defining external interfaces between models, simulations, and physical systems, and contribute to the system implementation approach and operational concept. The candidate will help ensure Mod & Sim requirements are met and support performance evaluations in collaboration with the customer and broader engineering team. The successful candidate will be able to analyze architectures and contribute to the development of select DoDAF and/or SysML viewpoints that support modeling, simulation, and digital engineering activities.

Essential Functions

Support definition and maintenance of Mod & Sim system architectures to enable system design, integration, and test

Assist with Architecture, CONOPS, and use case development for the modeling and simulation environment using model-based systems engineering (MBSE) methodologies

Perform functional analysis, basic timeline analysis, trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition focused on Mod & Sim capabilities (e.g., constructive/virtual simulations, SIL/HIL) under senior engineer guidance

Contribute to trade studies to compare modeling and simulation approaches, tools, and integration strategies

Support systems requirements analysis for the Mod & Sim environment, including performance, fidelity, and interoperability requirements

Assist with management of Mod & Sim-related requirements, including decomposition, allocation to models/simulations, and verification/validation through analysis and simulation-based methods

Help develop and maintain DoDAF and/or SysML viewpoints and model artifacts describing simulation architecture, data flows, and operational scenarios

Collaborate closely with vehicle/system design teams to ensure the Mod & Sim environment supports design decisions, risk reduction, and test planning

Basic Qualifications

(Level 2) Bachelor's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline with 2 years of engineering-related experience, OR Master's degree in STEM with 0 years of experience

Must have an active DoD Top Secret clearance

Foundation in Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and architecture development (coursework, projects, or internships)

Exposure to modeling and simulation (e.g., dynamic system modeling, simulation frameworks, or similar academic/industry experience)

(Level 3) Bachelor's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline with 5 years of engineering-related experience, OR Master's degree in STEM with 2 years of experience

Must have an active DoD Top Secret clearance

Foundation in Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and architecture development (coursework, projects, or internships)

Exposure to modeling and simulation (e.g., dynamic system modeling, simulation frameworks, or similar academic/industry experience)

Preferred Qualifications

Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a closely related discipline, with some experience in Mod & Sim and MBSE (academic, project, co-op, or internship)

Applied knowledge of aircraft or aerospace system design and performance (coursework, senior design, or research)

Experience in a military aerospace or other highly regulated development environment (internship/co-op acceptable)

Hands-on experience with MBSE tools such as Cameo MagicDraw, Rhapsody, Sparx EA, or Enterprise Architect (coursework or project experience acceptable)

Experience creating or modifying DoDAF or SysML artifacts, especially Operational and Functional viewpoints, aligned with modeling and simulation activities

Familiarity with integrating or using models and simulations (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, AFSIM, JSBSim, or similar tools) as part of analysis or design projects

Primary Level Salary Range: $79,300.00 - $147,600.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $0.00 - $0.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
