Job description

WCYB-TV News 5, the NBC and FOX affiliate serving the Tri-Cities, is looking for a Multimedia Journalist (MMJ) who is passionate about telling meaningful stories, connecting with the community, and producing compelling content across platforms.

The ideal candidate is a strong storyteller who can report, shoot, write, and edit engaging stories for television, digital, social media, and streaming platforms. We're looking for someone who is curious, motivated, and eager to develop sources and uncover stories that matter to viewers across the Tri-Cities region.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and pitch relevant, enterprise-driven story ideas that reflect the interests and concerns of communities throughout the Tri-Cities
  • Report, shoot, write, and edit compelling stories for television, digital, social media, and streaming platforms
  • Build and maintain relationships with sources throughout the community
  • Deliver engaging live reports from the field
  • Create timely and accurate content for our website and social media platforms
  • Work effectively under deadline pressure while maintaining high journalistic and ethical standards
  • Collaborate with producers, photographers, anchors, and other newsroom team members to deliver strong daily coverage and special projects
     

Qualifications:

  • A passion for journalism, storytelling, and serving the community
  • Strong shooting, writing, editing, and live reporting skills
  • An understanding of visual storytelling and NPPA-style techniques
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative newsroom
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced news environment
  • A valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Newsroom experience through professional work, internships, student media, or comparable experience
  • Experience with LiveU or similar live technology is a plus

The base hourly compensation range for this role is $16.50 to $18.10. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidates' relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. Full time positions are eligible for benefits that include participation in a retirement plan, life and disability insurance, health, dental and vision plans, flexible spending accounts, sick leave, vacation time, personal time, parental leave and employee stock purchase plan.
