Compensation for this position is expected to range between $70,000.00 and $83,000.00 per year, in alignment with what California Baptist University (CBU) reasonably anticipates paying for this role. The final rate may vary depending on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and prevailing market conditions. Position Summary Information
Summary
The Assistant Director of Strength and Conditioning assist in the oversight and management of the Athletic Performance Center and provides comprehensive coaching to improve athletic performance, decrease potential for injury, and improve general health and wellness for assigned sports teams.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Understand and agree to abide by the mission of CBU and the CBU Athletics Department.
2. Design and implement athletic-performance training programs to be determined by the Director of Strength and Conditioning and ensure a safe environment for the student-athletes.
3. Coach and demonstrate with proficiency, athletic movement exercises/drills for: warm up, speed, agility, plyometrics, flexibility/mobility, strength training, Olympic lifting, and recovery strategies.
4. Administer performance tests and movement screens for individuals and large groups (ex: strength testing, speed testing, FMS, vertical jump, etc.).
5. Implement practice and pre-game warm up including but not limited to movement preparation, and other performance related activities.
6. Communicate with athletic training staff regarding health status of student-athletes, and potential training modifications.
7. Communicate and coordinate with the athletic training staff in the design, implementation, and monitoring of end-stage rehabilitation, conditioning, and strength training for student-athletes recovering from severe injury.
8. Coordinate with strength coaching staff and sports coaches regarding Athletic Performance Center team scheduling.
9. Communicate and collaborate with sports coaches regarding team/athlete needs and progress.
10. Provide general coaching regarding nutrition, recovery, nutritional supplements, and other subjects related to performance.
11. Assist in the management and mentorship of volunteer strength coaches, student-workers, practicum students and interns.
12. Assist with facility operations including facility cleaning, equipment maintenance, and nutritional supplement restocking.
13. Adhere to NCAA, Conference (Big West) and institution (CBU) rules, policies and procedures, ethical standards, by-laws, and regulations.
14. Supervise the APC and other sports programs in the absence of the Director of Strength and Conditioning.
15. Assist with budget preparation and monitoring.
Supervisory Responsibilities
In the absence of Director of Strength and Conditioning, this position will supervise student workers. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for long periods of time, run, jump, squat, bend, and perform other athletic movements that require high levels of coordination, skill, and strength, safely and with proper technique. The employee will regularly lift and move an average load of 50 pounds in order to demonstrate proper movement technique. The employee will be regularly required to engage in intense cardiovascular and strength training. Furthermore, the employee must have sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate computer keyboard or other office equipment. Requires visual acuity to read words and numbers and speaking and hearing ability sufficient to communicate in person or over the phone. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Work is normally performed on the training floor, in an intense training environment, with high levels of exposure to health and/or safety hazards.
Education and/or Experience
Master's degree (M.A.) or equivalent; or four to ten years' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
