Job description

Position: Business Development & Marketing Associate (New Graduate Program — Entry-Level)
Company: Mid-Atlantic Packaging (MAP)
Department: Sales
Location: Hybrid — Dover, DE office (majority of the week) + territory travel after training
Territories: Two openings — one covering PA & NJ, one covering MD & VA
Reports to: CEO / Sales Leadership
Experience: Entry-level — recent college graduates encouraged to apply

About the Role
Looking for a first job out of college that actually teaches you something? Mid-Atlantic Packaging is launching two entry-level Business Development & Marketing Associate roles — one covering PA & NJ, one covering MD & VA — designed specifically for recent graduates who want real business experience, not busy work.

You'll start with structured, hands-on training in our Dover, DE office, working alongside experienced account managers and company leadership to learn the packaging business from the ground up. As you build confidence, you'll take on your own accounts, help bring in new business, and get exposure to product branding, packaging design, e-commerce strategy, and customer project management — all while being mentored by people who want to see you succeed.

This is a launchpad role. Most of your week will be spent in our Dover office learning the ropes, with territory travel added in as you're ready. Think of it as a paid, real-world extension of your business or marketing degree — with an actual career path attached.

Key Responsibilities (What You'll Learn & Do)

Learning the Business (Your First Few Months)

•      Complete structured onboarding in our Dover, DE office — learning MAP's products, customers, and sales process alongside experienced team members
•      Shadow account managers and leadership on customer calls and site visits to see the job in action before doing it solo
•      Get comfortable with our systems, order process, and how packaging projects move from ideas to delivery

Account Support & Growth
•      Help service a portfolio of existing customer accounts, building relationships and learning what makes a great packaging partner
•      Support efforts to identify growth opportunities within current accounts
•      As you're ready, begin traveling into your assigned territory (PA/NJ or MD/VA) for in-person visits — typically 1-2 days a week once trained, with the rest of your week based in the Dover office

New Business Development
•      Help prospect and develop new leads within your territory across boutique retail, e-commerce, and independent business segments
•      Learn to build and manage a sales pipeline from first contact through close, with hands-on coaching along the way
•      Represent MAP at in-person meetings and local networking opportunities as you grow into the role

Marketing & Project Exposure
•      Get exposure to product branding and consumer packaging design conversations with customers
•      Learn how retail marketing and e-commerce packaging decisions get made, including unboxing experience and sustainability trends
•      Support customer projects from concept through delivery, learning project management along the way

Cross-Functional Collaboration
•      Work closely with MAP's production, purchasing, and customer service teams to see how the whole business fits together
•      Bring fresh ideas and observations back to leadership — we want to hear your perspective

Qualifications & Skills

Required

•      Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications, or a related field (recent grads welcome — no professional experience required)
•      Genuine interest in sales, marketing, or business — coursework, internships, campus organizations, or part-time jobs all count
•      Strong communication skills and a natural comfort talking with people
•      Coachable and eager to learn — you'll get real mentorship, and we want someone who wants it
•      Organized, with the ability to juggle a few tasks or projects at once as you learn the ropes
•      Valid driver's license and reliable transportation (territory travel begins after training)

Preferred
•      Internship or part-time experience in sales, marketing, retail, or customer service
•      Coursework or interest in branding, packaging design, or e-commerce
•      Involvement in campus leadership, clubs, or organizations that show initiative and people skills
•      A growth mindset — someone who sees this as the start of something, not just a first job

What We Offer
Benefits & Perks

•      Competitive entry-level base salary + performance-based commission/bonus structure as you build your book
•      Structured onboarding and training program — you won't be thrown in without support
•      Direct mentorship from experienced account managers and company leadership, including the CEO
•      Mileage/travel reimbursement once territory travel begins
•      Real cross-functional exposure: sales, marketing, operations, and project management — a genuine foundation for a business career, not a siloed entry-level grind
•      A defined growth path within a growing, founder-led company — this role is designed to develop into a full Business Development & Marketing Specialist over time
•      Standard benefits — paid holidays and PTO, life insurance, 401k retirement plan, Aflac supplemental coverage, employee assistance and discount program
