Job description

Build secure technology solutions that help protect Vanguard and our investors. As a Risk & Security Engineer intern in Vanguard's College to Corporate (C2C) Internship Program, you'll work at the intersection of software engineering and cybersecurity - helping to design and develop systems that are resilient, secure, and reliable. This immersive internship combines hands-on project work, mentorship, and structured development to help you grow your technical skills while developing leadership skills through collaboration, initiative, and contributing to solutions that protect Vanguard and our investors.
In this internship you will:
  • Support the development of secure applications and systems across Vanguard's technology environment
  • Contribute to implementing security controls and best practices within software and platforms
  • Assist in identifying and addressing vulnerabilities in applications and infrastructure
  • Build or enhance tools, scripts, or processes that improve security and automation
  • Collaborate with engineering, security, and platform teams to deliver secure solutions
  • Gain exposure to secure software development practices and cybersecurity concepts
  • Work within Agile teams to contribute to design, development, and testing efforts
  • Build connections with peers, mentors, and leaders across Vanguard
  • Receive ongoing coaching and feedback to support your development

What it takes:
  • Pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Interest in software engineering with a focus on security and system protection
  • Familiarity with programming concepts and a willingness to learn secure coding practices
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Curiosity about how systems can be designed to prevent and mitigate risk
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher preferred
