What you will do
Role Overview:

The Solar PV Technology Engineer is responsible for providing technical support for the selection, design, construction, and operational processes for EDPR's solar PV power plants. The person in this role will work with the Head of the Department of Solar to maximize efficiency and manage technological risks at assigned solar power plants.   

Main responsibilities:
  • Monitor PV technology trends, market developments, and cost dynamics to inform equipment strategy and ensure competitiveness, bankability, and performance.
  • Develop and maintain technical standards, specifications, and technology roadmaps for PV modules and key plant equipment.Support engineering, project development, and M&A activities through technical due diligence, risk assessment, and technology evaluation.
  • Lead supplier technical qualification, homologation, and ongoing engagement, ensuring compliance with quality, manufacturing, and technical requirements.Provide technical input across development, FEED, detailed design, and procurement phases to optimize LCOE, reliability, and lifecycle performance.
  • Support BoS design, RFP processes, and proposal evaluations, identifying risks and optimization opportunities.
  • Assist construction and commissioning teams in resolving complex technical issues and participate in FAT/SAT activities.
  • Analyze operational performance and failures, applying root cause analysis and driving continuous improvement into future designs and standards.Promote standardization across projects while ensuring flexibility for project-specific requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies on safety, quality, and environmental standards.Represent the organization in technical discussions with external stakeholders, suppliers, and institutions.

What are we looking for
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or a related technical field, Master's degree in Engineering preferred 
  • 5+ years in the Solar PV energy sector 
  • Working knowledge of the Solar Industry from a manufacturing or construction standpoint 
  • Knowledge of the PV technology (PV cells and modules, structure and trackers, inverters, BoS)  
  • Knowledge of solar PV design and assessment software tools (PVSyst, Helios3D, etc.) 
  • Understanding of Microsoft products and/or complementing products.  (Preferred) 
  • Competency in Analytical Problem Solving, Strong Communication, Customer/Partner Relationships, and Technology Expertise (Preferred) 
  • Proficient in Spanish and Portuguese is a plus 
Travel:

25-50% internationally

  • Speech/Reading:  Ability to speak, read, and write English proficiently and deliver a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form 
  • Lifting: Ability to lift items weighing up to 10 pounds  
  • Vision/Hearing: Ability to understand a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form 
  • Tolerance to Extreme Weather Conditions: Ability to work in adverse weather conditions 25% of the time while on project sites 
  • Safety: Ability to understand and communicate safety precautions when necessary
