Intern Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer Intern - Summer (Material Handling)
Reports To: Manufacturing Engineering
Job Status: Hourly

Expected Length of Internship:
• As an internship company, we allow flexibility to enroll in classes while working as an intern, as long as it doesn't interfere with the essential functions of the position.
• This internship will be roughly 16-17 weeks long, from April 20, 2026 to August 21, 2026, but these dates can be flexible depending on candidate availability.
Experience:
• No previous experience required
Education:
• Must currently be enrolled in a Bachelors, Master's or PhD program who is fulfilling a graduation requirement for their degree.
• First Solar encourages all interns to register with their University.

Basic Internship Scope (Project):
• The Manufacturing Engineer Intern will support the Manufacturing Engineering team in day to day activities in sustaining the production line. This will consist of basic trouble shooting of issues, root cause analysis, and implementation and fixes. This intern will also support the team in repairing equipment.
• One major project this internship will focus on will be the LOTO safety documentation and asset ID Mapping for all US S6 plants
• Upon the completion of this internship, the intern is required to present their accomplishments and project summary to the leadership team.
Estimated Salary Range:
  • $18.00-$30.00 hourly.

US Physical Requirements:
Manufacturing & Maintenance Physical Requirements:
• Will sit, stand or walk short distances for up to 12 hours per day.
• Will climb stairs on an occasional basis.
• Will lift up to 51 pounds on an occasional basis, according to work instruction.
• Will push or pull up to 27 pounds of force on an occasional basis.
• Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects repetitively on a frequent basis.
• 20/40 vision in each eye (with or without correction) and the ability to distinguish between red, yellow and green is required.
• May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis.
• May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis.
• Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures.
• Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to; steel toed shoes, cut resistant gloves, jackets, aprons &/or arm guards, safety glasses, hearing protection).
• All associates working on the production floor may be required to wear a respirator at any given time and thus, the ability to wear a respirator is a condition of employment and continued employment (requires little or no facial hair).
Office Physical Requirements:
All positions in our office require interaction with people and technology while either standing or sitting.
