The Experience
Agents and AI are fast evolving technologies. The Agentic Selling Team within Digital Experience Technology is building production AI agents that empower Salesforce's 15,000+ global sellers. As Customer Zero for Agentforce, we are at the forefront of agent development, pioneering patterns that shape how enterprises deploy AI agents. We are looking for a backend Software Engineer who enjoys a fast-paced environment, can deliver incrementally, and thinks creatively. You will work on cutting-edge agent technologies using Agentforce, Agent Script, and integrate with Salesforce CRM and Data Cloud.
What You'll Actually Be Doing...
  • Build and maintain agent capabilities using Agentforce Builder, Agent Script, and New Graph Architecture (NGA) serving 15,000+ internal users
  • Develop agent topics, skills, and conversation flows for complex sales use cases including account research, content recommendations, and sales coaching
  • Implement integrations connecting agents to Salesforce Data Cloud, APIs, and external data sources
  • Write and optimize prompts for agent instructions, guardrails, and high-quality response generation
  • Develop data ingestion pipelines for structured and unstructured content to power agent knowledge bases
  • Participate in UAT, regression testing, and production support with focus on agent conversation quality
  • Work in an Agile engineering model contributing to all phases of SDLC including design, implementation, code reviews, and testing
  • Collaborate with product managers, architects, and business stakeholders as part of Customer Zero initiative
  • Build efficient components on a microservice, multi-tenant SaaS cloud environment
  • Contribute to bi-weekly production releases maintaining high quality and reliability standards.

You're Our Person If...
  • 3-5 years of development experience as a software engineer
  • Strong experience with backend development in Java, Python, or at least one object-oriented compiled, statically-typed language (C++, C#)
  • Knowledge of AI/ML frameworks and foundational understanding of large language models (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, Claude, Gemini, etc.)
  • Experience with prompt engineering, conversational AI, or building LLM-based applications is a strong plus
  • Proficiency in data processing, working with APIs (REST, GraphQL), and integration patterns
  • Understanding of vector databases, embeddings, and semantic search concepts
  • Experience with Salesforce platform (Apex, LWC, Data Cloud) or ability to learn quickly
  • A related technical degree required
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to collaborate across teams
  • Experience in test-driven development with focus on unit testing, integration testing, and end-to-end automation
  • Ability to support/resolve production issues with debugging and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with developer tools such as Git, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions) a plus
  • Passion for AI and eagerness to grow expertise in agent development and Agentforce platform
