Job Goal:
The School Social Worker Intern assists students with academic and social & emotional learning by providing strategic services that identify and address the social-emotional-environmental issues that interfere with the educational process. Working with parents/guardians, teachers, school leaders and community based resources, the School Social Worker Intern implements strategies that promote students' positive school adjustment. The School Social Worker Intern is assigned to school(s) based upon identified needs of the student. The School Social Worker Intern serves as a part of the student services team in each school. The School Social Worker Intern services shall be utilized to assist in the process of developing an educational climate conducive to the optimum development of all children. Emphasis shall be placed on prevention as well as rehabilitation, on indirect as well as direct services.
