Job description

Job Summary:ย  To function as a member of the educational team, under the supervision of a certified School Social Worker, and provide social emotional supports to general and special education students through social work services, including assessment, counseling and consulting with parents and school professionals, preparing recommendations regarding the evaluation of students and assisting with the coordination of behavior management programs.ย 
Job Responsibilities:ย 
Complete the intern preparation program with all competencies attained
Assesses the social and emotional needs of students
Produces timely, professionally written reports reflecting the results of the above actions to be used by school and staff personnel in designing intervention plans or individualized plans for students as needed
Provides direct social work services to large group, small group or individually referred students as assigned by the School Social Worker Supervisor.
Assists in tracking and following up on all student referrals.
Participates and occasionally presents at teacher meetings, assemblies, etc.
Serves as an advocate for student's rights within the school and serves as a mediator between parents, child and school.
Uses effective consultation and behavior intervention principles to aid teachers or parents with individual child and/or group behavior management.
Attends appropriate school based, student-centered meetings (IPS, PPS, IEP)
Performs such duties as assigned by building and/or district administration.
Qualifications:













  1. Currently enrolled in an approved Masters Degree program from an accredited school, leading to a Professional Educator License with a SSW endorsement for the position
  2. Recommended by supervising University to be a School Social Work Intern
  3. Applicant must have met Illinois State Board of Education guidelines
The compensation for the intern is a $2,500 stipend. No benefits associated with this position.ย
