Job description

This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Center for Medicare & Medicaid Innovation (CMMI), Research and Rapid Cycle Evaluation Group.
As a Social Science Research Analyst, GS-0101-13, you will perform program and policy analyses of services provided by HHS programs. The incumbent develops and uses survey, policy research, and statistical methodologies and techniques to conduct studies of assigned HHS programs.Qualifications:ALL QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS MUST BE MET WITHIN 30 DAYS OF THE CLOSING DATE OF THIS ANNOUNCEMENT.

In order to qualify for the GS-13, you must meet the following:
Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the basic AND specialized experience requirements as noted below.
Basic Requirement: You must meet one of the items listed below (A, B, or C):
A. Possess a degree in behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position (must provide transcript);OR
B. Possess a combination of education and experience that provided you with the knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field (must provide transcript);OR
C. Possess four years of appropriate experience that demonstrates acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field (must be demonstrated in your resume).
AND
You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include:
1. Conducting quantitative analyses of health care insurance programs or payment models using statistical techniques;
2. Interpreting or analyzing data to be included in study reports, issues papers, or presentation materials related to Medicare, Medicaid, or other health insurance programs; AND
3. Summarizing key policy-relevant data findings and communicating them verbally or in writing.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Time-in-Grade: To be eligible, current or former Federal employees and current or former Federal employees applying under the VEOA eligibility who hold or have held a permanent General Schedule position in the previous year must have served at least 52 weeks (one year) at the next lower grade level from the position/grade level(s) to which they are applying.Education:If you are meeting the Basic Requirement for this GS-0101-13 position based on academic education, TRANSCRIPTS are required to verify satisfactory completion of the educational requirement listed above.
