Job Title:Materials Handler-1st Shift

Job Description: Perform duties to pull, handle, move, load, and unload materials by hand or using any range of material handling equipment, following established routines and making minor decisions.

Essential Duties:

  • Work from computerized Quality Management System (QMS) components including production schedules, bill of materials and pull tickets.
  • Print pull tickets, bill of materials, and other documents to guide the process of picking and delivering materials to work areas.
  • Pull parts from inventory manually and using a forklift. Install protective devices, such as bracing, padding, or strapping, to prevent shifting or damage to items being transported. Ensure the proper rotation of materials as parts are pulled. Separate by department, section, and final location and stage for delivery to specific areas.
  • Select picked items from staging area to move to specific work areas for next day's production.
  • Move damaged parts from work area to MRB (Material Review Board) area. Reverse MRB items out of the job and into MRB in computer records, as required due to shortage or DPU. Email purchasing department as required to initiate a rush order on material shortages.
  • Remove trash and recycle bins from production areas. Operate trash compactor and replace empty bins.
  • Inspect material handling equipment, structures, or materials to identify problems or defects.
  • Participate in cycle counting and physical inventory assignments as directed.

Other Duties:

  • Perform or assist with any operations, as required to maintain workflow and to meet schedules and quality requirements.
  • Maintain work areas in a clean and orderly condition. Consistently operate in keeping with all safety rules and requirements.
  • Participate in any variety of meetings and work groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems, and maintain specified level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements, and policies.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Tools and Equipment:

Use computer hardware and associated software, packaging tools, material handling equipment, and trash compactor.

Minimum Personal Protection Equipment (PPE):

  • Safety Glasses - ANSI Z87.1
  • Gloves - ANSI Cut 3 4544
  • Foot Protection, Steel Toe - ASTM F2413-11

Physical Demand:

  • Frequently push and pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequently lift and carry up to 55 lbs.
  • Frequently stand, walk, bend, crouch, kneel, climb, maneuver, stoop, squat, grasp, and reach.
