About the role:

The Data Scientist I will support data analytics initiatives within the Electrophysiology (EP) Complaint Investigation Site (CIS) and supporting functions. This role is an excellent opportunity for a data professional who enjoys solving business problems with data. The individual will develop dashboards and reports, fulfill ad hoc data requests, and support automation initiatives that improve operational efficiency across the EP Quality organization.

The ideal candidate has experience with SQL, Python, and business intelligence tools such as Microsoft Power BI or Tableau. They are detail-oriented, eager to learn, and excited to leverage emerging technologies including AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, and Claude to improve reporting, analytics, and business processes.

Work mode:

At Boston Scientific, we value collaboration and synergy. This hybrid role is based in Arden Hills, MN and requires being on-site at least three days per week.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance dashboards and reports that communicate product performance, complaint trends, and operational metrics for the Electrophysiology division.
  • Partner with Quality Engineering and business stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and translate business needs into effective dashboards and visualizations.
  • Support recurring reporting activities and fulfill ad hoc data requests using data from multiple sources.
  • Write and optimize SQL queries to retrieve, validate, and analyze data from relational databases.
  • Develop Python scripts and analytical workflows to improve reporting, data processing, and operational efficiency.
  • Support automation initiatives that streamline business processes, including robotic process automation (RPA) and generative AI solutions where appropriate.
  • Utilize AI productivity tools such as Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, and Claude to accelerate analysis, documentation, and solution development while following company policies and governance.
  • Perform data validation and quality checks to ensure the accuracy and integrity of reports and dashboards.
  • Present analytical findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate a primary commitment to patient safety and product quality by maintaining compliance with the Quality Policy and all documented quality processes and procedures.

What we’re looking for in you:

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Information Systems, Business Analytics, or a related technical field.
  • 0–2 years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, reporting, software development, or a related field (internships, co-ops, and academic projects are encouraged).
  • Experience writing SQL queries to retrieve and manipulate data.
  • Programming experience with Python.
  • Experience creating dashboards or reports using Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, or a similar business intelligence platform.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Internship, research, or project experience involving data analytics or visualization.
  • Experience with Microsoft Power BI or Tableau.
  • Familiarity with relational databases and basic data modeling concepts.
  • Familiarity with generative AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, or similar AI platforms.
  • Basic understanding of statistical analysis and data visualization best practices.
  • Interest in healthcare, medical devices, or other regulated industries.
