Responsibilities

The Research Trial Systems has an opening for an IT Intern.  The selected intern will assist with supporting and developing automated testing for research applications. This position is a one-year internship.  When classes are not in session, we are expecting 40 hours/week during Monday-Friday.  When classes are in session, we are expecting at least 20 hours/week Monday-Friday.  We are willing to work around class schedules, but once a schedule is agreed upon, we expect it to stay consistent.
The primary purpose of the Internship is to provide an intern with relevant field experiences in their chosen field of study.  One or more mentors will be assigned to the intern to provide instruction, guidance and to assess performance.  The intern is responsible for observing the functions and processes of the assigned work unit.  In addition, the intern may be given selected work assignments to reinforce the learning experience, to assess the performance levels and to provide benefit to the work unit.  The intern will be responsible for completing all internship-related assignments and reports for both Mayo and the participating educational facility.  The duration and timing of the internship will be arranged with the intern.


Qualifications

Skills that will be needed or developed during this internship include:

  • Working knowledge with API testing (SOAP and REST)
  • Hands on experience with automation tools like Selenium, Appium, Playwright
  • Ability to design, develop, and execute automated tests using scripting languages such as Java, C#, Visual Basic or Python
  • Working knowledge with building test strategies and test plans
  • SQL skills and data validation
  • Knowledge on Behavior Driven Development (BDD) and data driven automation framework
  • Knowledge in performance testing tools like Blazemeter, Jmeter
  • Ability to create reusable and low maintenance test automation scripts.


The incumbent must be enrolled in a bachelors, masters or graduate degree program from a college or university.  Typically, this internship would occur after the student has taken most of the courses required by the degree program.
Where applicable - the degree program must require an internship as a graduation requirement (or offer as a credit option).
