The Epilepsy Global Strategic Marketing (Upstream) team at LivaNova is seeking a strategic marketing intern to support the company in the development, validation, and enablement of the Epilepsy business unit strategy for LivaNova. This includes supporting market opportunity assessments, competitive landscaping, product portfolio optimization, and more. Members of the GSM team have high impact and visibility across the organization, working cross-functionally on projects that impact commercial, marketing, clinical, and R&D decision-making to sustain our growth and leadership in Drug-Resistant Epilepsy.

About the Role:

The intern will be responsible for developing strategic market insights through customer research and secondary data analysis, collaborating with business stakeholders, and succinctly communicating findings.

The internship will include one core project and additional smaller projects/activities over the course of the summer with potential key responsibilities including:

  • Market landscape and analysis: support insights of the epilepsy surgical market to ensure clarity and anticipation of market dynamics that could impact and influence strategic direction. Review various data sources such as clinical literature, financial data, and pharmacy & medical procedure data to inform business decisions

  • Competitive analysis: conduct competitive intel research across viable sources internally and externally to ground current plans and anticipate future landscape. Review analogous technology to benchmark current and future product development plans. Identify and assess risk of current and upcoming competitors.

  • Voice of customer research: support qualitative and quantitative market research (e.g., interviews, surveys) with customers to gain insights, and synthesize key findings and implications

  • Market opportunity assessments of new growth opportunities: support identification of new growth opportunities and quantification of the opportunity

  • Business development strategy and partnership; identification of opportunities, partnership with corporate business development function to assess viable potential targets for partnership and inorganic growth.

  • Support financial modeling

  • Create presentations showcasing insights and recommendations clearly and succinctly to senior leadership

About You:

A strong candidate does not necessarily need to have all of the following, and we encourage you to apply if you can bring other skills and perspectives to the table

  • Working toward or recently graduated from a Bachelor's or Master's program with a focus in the life sciences (e.g., biology, chemistry, physics, biomedical engineering) and/or business/economics.

    • Preference for graduate and MBA candidates

  • Experience applying various analytical and problem-solving approaches to real world problems and writing documentation and summary reports of your approaches and findings

  • Passion for data and strong analytical mindset

  • Enjoys working closely and collaborating with other team members

  • Practical understanding of how analysis can be synthesized into insights that enable key business decisions and processes

  • An eagerness to learn the industry perspective, dive deep into the business context, and a drive to understand the medical device markets in which LivaNova operates

  • Creative problem-solving skills and openness to learn new approaches and technologies

  • Excellent project management, organizational and time management skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Excel

  • Prior experience in consulting, corporate strategy, finance, marketing, product management or general experience in the healthcare/medical device industry is a nice to have

Travel Requirements

  • Limited Travel less than 10% may be required.

  • 10-14 weeks, flexible between the months of May and September

  • Option to work out of Houston (TX), Minneapolis (MN), or Arvada (CO) in-person offices as desired
