Position Purpose:
The Colleague Safety/ Risk Specialist is responsible for identifying colleague safety risks and developing risk mitigation and colleague safety improvement actions at assigned locations.
Location: Mount Carmel Grove City
What you will Do:
  • Provides site annual OSHA 300A Summary Logs
  • Works effectively with senior leadership, medical staff, managers, and colleagues to promote a culture of safety.
  • Reviews literature and professional organizations for new or revised evidence based best practices related to colleague safety and healthcare risk management for identification of proactive mitigation strategies and to make recommendations to leadership.
  • Plans, develops and provides the leadership for site colleague safety programs/projects and initiatives.
  • Proactively identifies potential and actual colleague safety risks with prompt notification to key stakeholders.
  • Implements organization-wide Colleague Safety/Risk Management Programs.
  • Provides education/communication for leadership, physicians, colleagues and other stakeholders on colleague safety needs, initiatives, activities, and for shared learning across Mount Carmel Health System
  • Oversees the colleague incident/injury reporting process in accordance with MCHS policy and OSHA requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Education: Associate's degree in related field. Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.
  • Licensure / Certification: State of Ohio Licensed Registered Nurse. Certified Hospital Safety Professional (CHSP) preferred; those hired after May 2016 must agree to obtain designation within two years of hire.
  • Experience: 2-4 years of experience in the field of Colleague Safety/Risk Management, or a minimum of five years of recent clinical leadership experience.
  • Effective Communication Skills
