 Opportunity:

The Industrial Design Intern position will play a key role in the continued growth and success of the company.

This is a paid opportunity.

Working on the Product Development team, an interdisciplinary team of designers and engineers, you will:

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Research: Including competitive analysis, competitive testing, user observation and concept validation.
  • Concept Generation: Individual and team brainstorms, including (1) FlightDay. 
  • Concept Sketching: Strong sketching skills required to communicate new ideas and present them to the team
  • CAD Development: You will create 3D CAD A-Surfacing models ideally in Rhino.
  • Rendering: Create CAD renderings in Keyshot responsible for color, material and finish.
  • Prototype Skills: Collaborate with the prototype shop to make Works-Like mock-ups and Looks-Like prototypes.

 Qualifications: 

  • The ideal candidate will be an upper classman majoring in Industrial Design with a 3.0 GPA or higher and have prior internship experience.
  • The individual must be an effective problem solver who is committed to producing products of exceptional quality and beautiful design.
  • The individual should be open to hearing team feedback and applying it to improve their projects through the development cycle.
  • The individual loves the craft of designing including a passion for sketching and ideating through sketching.
  • The individual should be proficient in CAD ideally in Rhino or Solidworks Surfacing.

The pay range per hour is $22-$26. Pay is based on responsibilities, skills/experience level, education, along with the Chicagoland area market, the consumer product industry, and company size. This internship may offer a relocation stipend for those who live outside of the Chicagoland area. Radio Flyer’s paid time off policies comply with the City of Chicago Paid Leave and Paid Sick and Safe Leave Ordinance.
