Job description

Ampco Pumps is a fast-growing manufacturer of centrifugal pumps, positive displacement pumps and mixing & blending equipment used in the food and dairy industries, desalination, and various chemical and industrial applications.


The Design Engineer collaborates with experienced engineers to develop and refine product and system designs. In this role, you will create CAD models and drawings, perform basic engineering calculations, prepare documentation, support prototype builds, and participate in design reviews. This is an opportunity to build hands-on experience, grow your technical skills, and make a meaningful impact on innovative projects from day one.


Duties/Responsibilities

  • Design positive displacement, centrifugal, and twin-screw pump products for new product development and existing product customer orders.
  • Maintain/improve designs of standard products, improving quality and productivity, while reducing costs.
  • Assist with purchasing on vendor selection of new product design to assure design conformance.
  • Support prototyping, testing, and validation activities.
  • Create or review product documentation.
  • Work with operations to address and resolve design and assembly problems.
  • Act as technical resource for product field support.
  • Suggest ideas for new products and stay current in new developments in the industry.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.
  • Follow all housekeeping procedures and comply with all quality and safety regulations.


Required Skills

  • In depth knowledge of SolidWorks.
  • Strong organizational aptitude and excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work with technical and non-technical co-workers and collaborate in a team environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to effectively multi-task while meeting deadlines.


Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • 1+ years related experience, including internships


Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move drawing, files, parts, components, and manuals weighing up to 25 pounds.
