Job Description:

Position Summary

Join our RF Design team and contribute to the development of cutting-edge RF/microwave front-end ICs and modules operating in the 2-8 GHz frequency range for advanced wireless communication systems. This position offers hands-on experience in RF design, simulation, characterization, and performance optimization within a collaborative engineering environment.

Responsibilities

Co-Op

  1. Perform RF circuit, electromagnetic (EM), and thermal simulations to support the design and development of RF modules and integrated circuits.
  2. Assist with laboratory characterization, debugging, and performance optimization of RF ICs and modules.
  3. Analyze measurement data and simulation results to evaluate circuit performance and identify improvement opportunities.
  4. Prepare comprehensive technical reports summarizing test results, simulation findings, and engineering recommendations.
  5. Present technical analyses, project updates, and key findings to the engineering team.
  6. Evaluate and leverage emerging computational technologies, including AI-assisted engineering tools, data analytics, automation, and advanced modeling techniques, to enhance design efficiency, optimize performance, and accelerate design analysis.

Required Experience and Skills

  1. Currently pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  2. Solid foundation in microwave engineering and electronic circuit design. Familiarity with microwave circuit concepts, including amplifiers, filters, transmission lines, impedance matching networks, and passive RF components.
  3. Experience with RF design and simulation tools such as Keysight Advanced Design System (ADS), Cadence Virtuoso, Ansys HFSS, or equivalent EDA software.
  4. Familiarity with laboratory measurement equipment, including digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, vector network analyzers (VNAs), power meters, and spectrum analyzers.
  5. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret simulation and measurement data.
  6. Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present technical findings and prepare concise technical reports.
  7. Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary engineering environment.
  8. January - June 2027 Winter/Spring
  9. Must have ability to complete 6-month Co-Op term prior to graduation.

Desired Experience and Skills

  1. Knowledge of integrated circuit design, semiconductor devices, and semiconductor physics.
  2. Experience with RF front-end modules, RFICs, MMICs, or related wireless communication products.
  3. Experience with data analysis, scripting, or programming tools such as Python, MATLAB, or similar engineering software.
  4. Familiarity with automation, machine learning, AI-assisted engineering tools, or advanced computational techniques for design and data analysis.
  5. Hands-on experience in RF characterization, debugging, and performance optimization of RF circuits, modules, or integrated circuits.
  6. Prior internship, co-op, undergraduate research, or industry experience in RF, microwave, semiconductor, or related engineering fields. Candidates with relevant practical experience will be given strong consideration.
  7. Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies quickly and apply innovative approaches to engineering challenges.

The typical pay range for an Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $26.00 - $47.50 per hour and for a Non-Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $22.50 - $42.00 per hour. Starting pay will depend on level of education, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S.
