Job Title: Co-Op Industrial Designer
Department: Engineering
Reports to: Industrial Designer
Location: O'Fallon, MO
Timeframes: January 2027 – August 2027
FSLA Status: Hourly, Temporary, Seasonal

General Overview: Seek and develop new and innovative ideas for products with designs, sketches, and storyboards using 3D capabilities to visualize and implement ideas.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Brings new age technologies and concepts to life through visual representations. This includes ideas for bats, protective equipment, balls, gloves, etc.
  • Develops and creates product concepts for a commercialization level.
  • Applies new age technology concepts and consumer vision to help promote designs to other business and marketing associates.
  • Create and maintain design documentation of quality 3D CAD data packages for modeling and prototyping to interface with Design Engineers and Graphics department.
  • Participate in ideation sessions that generate innovations through use of market research and trends.
  • Draft sketches and illustrations of potential products or work on enhancing an existing product to make it more appealing to consumers.
  • Fabricate models using samples.
  • Research consumer design trends and product limitations.
  • Work with engineering, marketing, production, and/or sales departments to establish and evaluate design concepts for manufactured products.
  • Test designs in focus groups or surveys.
  • Perform research on appearance, safety, function, serviceability, budget, production costs/methods, and market characteristics.
  • Work on packaging designs.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Pursuing Industrial Design degree (must be currently enrolled in school, Junior standing or higher preferred).
  • Experience with 3D design and modeling software – NX or Solidworks preferred.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
  • Strong affinity to develop an understanding of the ever-changing sporting goods market.
  • Strong team building and communication skills.
  • Proficient in sketching, rendering and digitizing tools
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software.

Working Conditions:

Manufacturing and warehouse working environment, lab environment, and/or office environment. Potential work hazards exist due to work environment.
