We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Sr. Inpatient Coding Specialist who is passionate about accuracy, compliance, and healthcare data integrity. The ideal candidate thrives in an independent work environment and has a strong understanding of inpatient coding guidelines and medical record documentation.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
Knowledge of ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, MS-DRG, and inpatient coding methodologies
Ability to analyze medical records and apply coding guidelines appropriately
Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to collaborate with physicians and clinical staff regarding documentation needs

What You Will Do
As an Inpatient Coding Specialist, you will assign diagnostic and procedural codes to discharged patient records, supporting quality reporting, reimbursement accuracy, regulatory compliance, and health information management operations.
Review and assign accurate diagnostic and procedural codes to inpatient medical records
Abstract clinical information into the electronic health information system
Apply coding and sequencing guidelines in accordance with regulatory and reimbursement requirements
Maintain coding productivity and accuracy standards while meeting turnaround expectations
Ensure completeness and integrity of coded data for reporting, research, and reimbursement purposes
Identify and follow up on documentation deficiencies that impact coding or record completion
Communicate with physicians and other clinical personnel to obtain clarification regarding diagnoses and procedures when needed
Audit incomplete records and monitor delinquent or deficient charts requiring follow-up
Maintain control procedures to ensure accurate and complete coded information
Utilize electronic health record and coding systems effectively to support departmental goals
Perform all other duties as assigned
