Job description

Overview

We are seeking a Business Analytics Intern to join our healthcare data processing and AI team. This internship focuses on analyzing Risk Adjustment healthcare data, performing Precision Recall (PR) calculations, and supporting AI/NLP innovation projects. You'll apply SQL and analytical skills to work with medical claims data, createbusiness intelligence dashboards, and gain exposure to AI technologies including large language models and NLP systems. This role requires candidates to be based in the Pacific Time Zone, ensuring close alignment with team working hours and enabling seamless, real-time collaboration with team members and stakeholders. The idealcandidate should be available during core Pacific Time business hours, able to actively participate in team discussions, and engage consistently with ongoing project work. Proximity to the team will support stronger communication, faster feedback cycles, and more effective collaboration on complex analytical and AI-driven initiatives.

Responsibilities
  • Perform analytics for Risk Adjustment operations, including PR number calculations, analysis of False Positive and False Negative ICD10 Codes, and HCC metrics.
  • Write SQL queries to extract, transform, and analyze healthcare data from enterprise databases.
  • Develop Tableau dashboards and reports to visualize Risk Adjustment metrics, trends, and operational KPIs.
  • Work with medical claims data, ICD-10 codes, and Risk Adjustment models to support business operations.
  • Learn and assist with NLP projects, LLM integration, and AI innovation initiatives that enhance medical data processing.
  • Perform data quality checks, validation processes, and reconciliation for healthcare datasets.
  • Assist with data pipelines, transformations, and data preparation for analytics and AI applications.
  • Query SQL Server and Oracle databases to support business analytics and reporting needs.
  • Document analytical processes, data definitions, and support quality assurance activities.
  • Complete all special projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Business, MBA, or related field.
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Strong SQL skills required - ability to write complex queries, joins, and perform data analysis.
  • Data analysis experience with Excel, statistical tools, or analytics platforms.
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Interest in healthcare analytics and AI technologies.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Eager to learn new technologies and business domains.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Candidate should be in Pacific time zone

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to provide a dedicated, secure work area.
  • Must be able to provide high-speed internet access/connectivity and office setup and maintenance.
  • No adverse environmental conditions are expected.

Base compensation ranges from $20.00 to $24.00 per hour. Specific offers are determined by various factors, such as experience, education, skills, certifications, and other business needs. 

Nonexempt employees are eligible to receive overtime pay for hours worked in excess of 40 hours in a given week, or as otherwise required by applicable state law.
