Role Summary
The Global Product Compliance Manager will be responsible for ensuring that all products meet applicable global regulatory, safety, and agency requirements throughout their lifecycle. This role manages compliance activities, leads agency representation, and provides technical expertise in product safety, regulatory affairs, and incident investigation. The manager works cross-functionally and collaboratively with Legal, Product Development, Sustainability, project teams, suppliers, and external agencies to maintain compliance, minimize risk, and support business objectives.

In This Role, You Will Focus On

Regulatory & Agency Compliance
• Interpret, monitor, and implement global regulatory, safety, and agency requirements (e.g., UL, CSA, NOM, CE, FCC, IEC, BIFMA, WEEE, RoHS) for all products.
• Lead and coordinate product testing, certification, and technical documentation to ensure compliance from development through end-of-life, in partnership with Product Development.
• Develop and maintain systems for auditing and verifying product compliance, including environmental and restricted substance regulations, in collaboration with the Sustainability team.
• Manage technical agency files and ensure accuracy and completeness of compliance documentation.
• Maintain relationships with regulatory agencies, certification bodies, and industry groups to facilitate efficient approvals and stay ahead of industry trends.

Product Safety & Incident Management
• Investigate and analyze product failures, including accident reconstruction and mechanical failure analysis, working closely with Legal and Product Development to determine root causes and corrective actions.
• Recommend and implement corrective actions based on root cause analysis, ensuring alignment with Legal and Product Development teams.
• Provide technical support for product liability claims, including evidence preparation and expert testimony, in partnership with Legal.
• Respond to marketplace and consumer safety issues, including product recalls and regulatory reporting, coordinating efforts with Legal and Sustainability.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Communication
• Work closely and proactively with Legal, Product Development, and Sustainability teams to ensure compliance requirements are integrated into product development and lifecycle management.
• Advise on product changes (e.g., design improvements, warning labels, documentation) to address compliance and safety requirements, collaborating with Product Development and Sustainability.
• Communicate compliance requirements and risks to internal teams and provide training and guidance as needed, especially to Legal, Product Development, and Sustainability stakeholders.
• Respond to customer and market inquiries regarding product compliance and sustainability, leveraging expertise from cross-functional partners.

What You Bring To the Team
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent work experience. Advanced certifications (e.g., fire science technology) are a plus.
• Experience: 10+ years in technical roles, including significant experience managing global agency compliance and product safety in the consumer goods industry. Experience with forensic analysis, regulatory affairs, and international standards is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of global regulatory, safety, and agency standards.
• Technical proficiency with product testing, certification, and compliance documentation.
• Analytical and investigative skills for incident analysis and problem-solving.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, especially with Legal, Product Development, and Sustainability teams.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.
• High computer literacy and proficiency with compliance systems.
• Willingness to travel internationally as needed.

The hiring range for this position in Itasca is $120,000 - $130,000 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills and experience, among other factors. An annual incentive may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
