Job description

What You'll Experience:
  • 10-Week Summer Internship Program: May 24, 2027 - July 30, 2027
  • Summer Work Location: CSX Headquarters in Jacksonville, Florida (on-site)
  • Potential for Co-op extension following the summer internship. While on-site reporting is preferred for a Co-op, remote or hybrid work arrangements may be considered based on the student's location.
  • Housing Support: Eligible interns may receive complimentary housing for the duration of the summer program (May 24, 2027 - July 30, 2027). Travel, transportation, and other personal expenses are not provided.
  • Competitive Compensation: Earn competitive hourly pay while gaining valuable professional experience.
  • Professional Development Opportunities: Enhance your skills through executive networking events, lunch & learn sessions, local site visits, community service activities, cross-functional exposure, and networking opportunities designed to help you build meaningful connections across CSX.
Primary Activities and Responsibilities:
  • Review, design and implement analytics platform to monitor mechanical car reliability, repair and production
  • Partners with multiple departments (Facilities, Mechanical Car/Locomotive and Transportation) to support the CSX Network while also providing reliable mechanical equipment.
  • Miscellaneous activities and responsibilities assigned by Manager.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Be a rising senior or graduate student enrolled in an accredited college or university, with an anticipated graduation date of December 2027 or May 2028.
  • Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • Pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree: systems engineering, computer engineering, computer science, business administration, information technology, or law. 
  • Be available to work up to 40 hours per week for the duration of the 10-week program
  • Demonstrate strong communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and leadership skills
  • Must be 18 years of age
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Anticipated graduation within a year after the end of the internship
  • Cumulative minimum GPA of 3.5 (based on a 4-point scale)
  • Prior internship experience
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Time management skills
  • Effective analytical, organization, prioritization, and written and oral communication skills
  • Experience with programming languages, such as Python or Java
  • Microsoft Office skills
Job Requirements:
  • Work hours may vary in length and schedule (may include a non-standard workweek)
  • Work at elevated heights at times
  • Successfully complete a background check and drug test
