Job description

THE OPPORTUNITY

Women facing unplanned pregnancies deserve real resources and real support. As Executive Director, you will lead an organization dedicated to making that vision a reality. You'll expand FFL's reach to women most at risk, grow our donor base, and bring innovation to how we educate and advocate, including leveraging AI to multiply our impact. This role is for a leader who turns mission into action.

ABOUT FEMINISTS FOR LIFE

Founded in 1972, Feminists for Life is a nonsectarian, nonpartisan organization that doesn't just talk about change; we create it. Guided by the feminist values of justice, nondiscrimination, and nonviolence, we are dedicated to eliminating the root causes that drive women to abortion, primarily lack of resources and support. We envision a world where no woman is forced to choose between her future and her child.

Our Pregnancy Resource Forums transformed campus support nationwide. Our College Outreach Program helped drive a 30% decrease in abortions among college-educated women. And our rallying cry, 'Women Deserve Better(R) than Abortion,' has become one of the most recognized phrases in the movement. Ready to shape what's next? Keep reading.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Innovate public education and outreach: Pioneer new approaches, including AI-powered tools, to reach pregnant women, mothers, and students at scale through digital platforms, media, and strategic partnerships. Empower our supporters to become advocates for a society where every woman finds the resources and support she needs.
  • Serve as FFL's public voice: Represent the organization in-person through media appearances, speaking engagements, podcasts, and legislative advocacy on Capitol Hill
  • Own editorial strategy: Set the vision and direction for The American Feminist, FeministsForLife.org, WomenDeserveBetter.com and GirlsDeserveBetter.org
  • Grow the donor base and diversify revenue: Expand our community of supporters through major gifts, grants, planned giving, and grassroots fundraising while building long-term financial sustainability
  • Build and lead the team: Supervise staff, interns, and volunteers while fostering a culture of innovation and mission-driven excellence
  • Partner with the Board: Set strategic direction, ensure fiscal health and compliance, and keep the Board informed on emerging opportunities and challenges

QUALIFICATIONS

We welcome candidates from the nonprofit sector and beyond. If you've led teams, driven growth, and are passionate about our mission, we want to hear from you.

Required

  • You are deeply committed to FFL's mission of providing women with resources and support
  • You have 5+ years of leadership experience, with a track record of public engagement and fundraising or revenue growth
  • You communicate effectively in writing, in person, and on camera
  • You hold a bachelor's degree or can demonstrate equivalent professional experience
  • You are willing to travel regularly (approximately 30-40% of time) for speaking engagements, conferences, Hill meetings, campus visits, and donor cultivation

Preferred

  • Experience with legislative advocacy or lobbying
  • Experience with non-profit organizations
  • Background in digital strategy, media, or content development
  • Master's degree in communications, public policy, nonprofit management, or related field.
