Dogs and Cats Emergency and Specialty (DCES) is actively seeking an experienced internship trained Veterinary ER Doctor or residency trained Veterinary Specialist to join our team as the Medical Director.
Located in Prince George's County, Bowie Maryland is ideally situated within the greater Washington, DC metro area, with convenient access to Northern Virginia, Baltimore and Annapolis.
Qualifications and Skills:
The ideal candidate:
  • Possesses a minimum of 5 years of clinical experience, ideally in an Emergency/Specialty hospital and minimum of 1-2 years of leadership experience, preferred
  • Values integrity, exhibits superior communication, displays excellent client service and patient care
  • Is a collaborative leader who will match and embrace DCES's culture
Schedule:
We understand that work-life balance is critical to your well-being. With this in consideration, we designed the schedule as follows:
  • 4-day work week, with a minimum of 50% of time spent on administrative duties
  • Please note, this is a full-time position and further details on schedule expectations will be discussed during the interview process.
Compensation:
Our competitive compensation package includes:
  • Competitive base salary ranging from $220,000- $250,000 and monthly production bonus, with earning potential of $275k+ annually and no negative accrual
  • Continuing education allowance of $3k annually, with an additional week of PTO to ensure you are able to focus on learning
  • 3 weeks of vacation annually, with additional sick time accrual
  • 1 additional Wellness Day Off annually
  • Generous signing and relocation bonus, and tiered retention bonuses over 3 years of employment

Role and Responsibilities:
Dogs and Cats Emergency & Specialty (DCES), a 24-hour multi-specialty and emergency hospital, is excited to invite applications for a full-time Medical Director. Our growing team seeks a collaborative, friendly, and compassionate professional to provide medical leadership for our hospital, manage associate and lead veterinarians, and assure regulatory compliance relating to the practice of veterinary medicine. The Medical Director is also responsible for creating an environment of teamwork in which quality medicine is delivered to as many patients as possible in a way that is sustainable and efficient for our medical team. In partnership with the existing Hospital Leadership Team, the Medical Director is responsible for the financial performance of the hospital, preparing operating and capital budgets, as well as helping the hospital to achieve financial success and growth by modeling healthy business and medical practices.
