Job description

MANTX — JUNIOR SOFTWARE DEVELOPER

Mantx is a fast-growing software startup building a modern, multi-tenant SaaS platform for the field-services industry — basically, we make the software that helps tree companies figure out which branch to cut down next, minus the chainsaw.

We ship real product every week, which is a nice way of saying "there is no such thing as a slow Friday here." We build with a senior engineering team who use modern AI-assisted development tools like Claude Code and Codex — think of them as very smart interns who never sleep, never complain, and occasionally hallucinate a function that almost works.

As a Junior Software Developer, you'll build features across our full stack — frontend, backend, and database — working directly alongside our senior software developers and senior AI engineer. You'll learn how we design, build, and ship production software, and how to use AI coding tools without letting them use you.

This is a hands-on, build-every-day role for someone eager to grow quickly. Coffee is provided. Emotional support during merge conflicts is provided informally, by whoever is closest.

WHAT YOU'LL ACTUALLY DO

- Build features across our full stack, guided by senior engineers

- Ship user-facing UI in Vue 3 + Vuetify

- Develop API endpoints in Python / FastAPI

- Write and optimize SQL against PostgreSQL — bonus points if you never once write SELECT *

- Use AI coding tools like Claude Code and Codex daily

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

- Solid software fundamentals — data structures, Git, HTTP, and a general sense of how a web app holds itself together without duct tape

- A strong drive to learn and grow fast — you'll get roughly one (1) week of being the new person before someone assumes you know where things are

- Hands-on experience (personal projects, internships, or professional work) in:

- Frontend (Vue, React, Angular, or similar)

- Backend (Python)

- SQL / relational databases

- Google Cloud Platform (or comparable cloud experience)

- Comfort with — or genuine eagerness to master — AI-assisted development tools like Claude Code or Codex

- Able to work on-site in Greenville, SC

NICE TO HAVE

- Personal projects or a portfolio that show you love to build things, not just watch tutorials about building things

- Vuetify, Pinia, FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, or Alembic

- Docker, Redis, real-time / WebSockets, or auth (OAuth / Keycloak / JWT)

- Prior hands-on experience shipping software with AI coding assistants
