The College of Health Care Professions (CHCP) is dedicated to preparing students for successful careers in healthcare through hands-on education, industry partnerships, and student-focused support.
We are seeking a Radiologic Technologist - Externship Coordinator to support our Limited Medical Radiologic Technologist (LMRT) program and help students transition from the classroom into real-world clinical environments.
This position is ideal for a Radiologic Technology or LMRT professional who understands the clinical environment, enjoys building professional relationships, and is passionate about helping students succeed.
About the Role
The Radiologic Technologist - Externship Coordinator serves as a key connection between LMRT students, faculty, and clinical partners.
This position is responsible for coordinating student externship placements, developing and maintaining relationships with healthcare facilities, monitoring student progress, and ensuring students are prepared for successful clinical experiences.
The ideal candidate brings radiology or imaging experience, strong communication skills, excellent organization, and the ability to build lasting relationships with clinical partners.
What You'll Do
  • Develop and maintain relationships with hospitals, imaging centers, physician offices, and other healthcare facilities to support LMRT externship placements.
  • Identify and establish new clinical partnerships to support student placement needs.
  • Coordinate student externship placements and ensure students are prepared to enter their assigned clinical sites.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between students, faculty, and clinical site supervisors.
  • Communicate regularly with clinical partners regarding student performance, attendance, progress, and expectations.
  • Conduct clinical site visits and maintain strong relationships with assigned clinical partners.
  • Monitor student progress throughout the externship experience.
  • Maintain accurate student records, timesheets, evaluations, affiliation agreements, and other required documentation.
  • Conduct externship orientations and prepare students for professional expectations in the clinical environment.
  • Provide students with guidance and support throughout their externship experience.
  • Address student and clinical site concerns and work collaboratively to resolve issues.
  • Utilize student tracking systems and databases to maintain accurate student and clinical site information.
  • Collaborate with faculty and Career Services to support student success and career readiness.
  • Support students with professional development, including resume preparation, interviewing, communication, and workplace expectations.
  • Ensure externship activities and documentation align with applicable accreditation and regulatory standards.
  • Conduct final evaluations and exit reviews to assess student progress and externship outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate and timely communication with all stakeholders involved in the externship process.
Required Qualifications
Candidates must meet one of the following education and experience requirements:
  • Completion of a Limited Medical Radiologic Technologist (LMRT) Program or Certificate Program with 3+ years of related experience; OR
  • Completion of a Radiologic Technology Associate's Degree Program with 2+ years of related experience.

Additionally, candidates must demonstrate:
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain professional relationships with clinical partners.
  • Ability to manage multiple students, clinical sites, deadlines, and administrative responsibilities.
  • Related professional experience in a clinical healthcare, radiology, or imaging environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with students, trainees, or new healthcare professionals.
  • Experience coordinating clinical education, externships, internships, or clinical placements.
  • Experience building relationships with hospitals, imaging centers, physician offices, or other healthcare organizations.
  • Experience with student tracking systems or databases.
  • CampusVue experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of accreditation and regulatory standards.
  • Experience mentoring, training, or precepting healthcare professionals or students.
