Job Description
SUMMARY
Connecticut Children's is Connecticut's only dedicated heath care system dedicated to Children. It is an academic free standing Children's Hospital affiliated with the University Of Connecticut School Of Medicine. The cardiovascular institute at Connecticut Children's offers full range of cardiovascular services from neonates to adults. Complex interventional cardiology and zero X ray ablation, dedicated cardiac intensivist are among some of the highlights of our program. We have a newly developed fetal care center and our adult congenital heart disease program is accredited by adult congenital heart association.
We are looking at an academic pediatric cardiologist with clinical responsibilities spanning between inpatient and outpatient cardiology services.
This will include an active outpatient clinic and inpatient service that provides care for patients with a full range of cardiovascular diseases. The Division has a dedicated team for inpatient cardiology patients which maximizes efficiency and improving the quality of care. The Cardiologist collaborates with the multi-disciplinary teams (including but not limited to cardiac intensivist, cardiac surgery, NICU, inpatient service, Emergency Medicine) team in providing excellent patient care.
The faculty members within Pediatric Cardiology are actively involved in education including pediatric cardiology fellow, medical students, pediatrics residents and the education of (adult) cardiology fellows.
Responsibilities
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
• Perform inpatient and outpatient pediatric cardiology evaluations and testing, including interpretation of ECGs, echocardiograms, ambulatory electrocardiography, and exercise stress testing in infants, children and adolescents.
• Maintain timely and complete chart notes, reports, and communication with primary care/referring physicians and other relevant subspecialty physicians.
• Maintain open and timely communication with patients, families, and guardians.
• Participate in multidisciplinary clinical management initiatives with other divisions,
• Facilitate patient referrals.
• Participate in division and department quality improvement initiatives, including within the department.
• Assists in the planning and direction of health programs within the appropriate specialty.
• Conducts training or assists in the training of interns and resident physicians.
• Maintains varied hours on a rotated schedule with other physicians to ensure that there is always a physician on-call during non-business hours.
• Faculty appointment is offered at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine
• Comply with all billing, coding, documentation, and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in divisional conferences, Department of Pediatrics grand rounds, morbidity and mortality conferences, and faculty development education.
• Maintain appropriate licensures and certifications

Qualifications
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Graduate from accredited school of medicine required
MD or DO Required
Successful Fellowship Program completion
No experience required
LICENSE and/or CERTIFICATION REQUIRED
Licensed and registered, and in good standing under the laws of the State of Connecticut
BC/BE Pediatric Cardiologist.
DEA with Controlled Substance required and must be maintained thereafter
