Wage Range: $12.00-13.00/hour


Description of the Position: (Purpose of the Position): 

The Student TA for Faculty and Staff R Workshop will assist Statistics and Data Science professors in running the classroom sessions of a R workshop at St. Olaf. 


Transferable Skills: 

During this position, the Student TA will: 

Build leadership skills through assisting beginners in the programming language R

Practice effective communication by answering questions and solving coding problems 

Develop teaching skills through observing SDS professors teaching classroom sessions and assisting in answering questions throughout the day


Duties and Responsibilities: 

Two teaching assistants will assist Statistics and Data Science professors in running the classroom sessions of the workshop. TAs will be responsible for answering questions, assisting participants with setting up their RStudio environments, assessing coding errors, and generally assisting with lessons. TAs will need to be able to commute to campus from June 22-24th. Lunch will be provided each day. 


Qualifications: (Education/Experience/Skills) 

Have taken SDS 172 and/or SDS 164. 

Experience will the programming language R and RStudio. 

Comfort with teaching and interacting with professors and faculty.
