Job description

The Junior Staff Accountant supports the accounting department by assisting with day-to-day financial activities, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring timely completion of accounting functions. This role is ideal for an entry-level accounting professional looking to develop skills in general ledger accounting, reconciliations, accounts payable/receivable, and financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
  • Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger
  • Reconcile bank statements, balance sheet accounts, and general ledger accounts
  • Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed
  • Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation
  • Assist in preparing financial statements and management reports
  • Review invoices, expense reports, and payment requests for accuracy
  • Help with account analysis and variance reporting
  • Support external audits by gathering requested documentation
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and internal controls
  • Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation records, if applicable
  • Assist with payroll accounting and employee expense reimbursements
  • Perform ad hoc accounting and administrative projects as assigned

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
  • 0-2 years of accounting or finance experience (internships considered)
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software/ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, QuickBooks, or Microsoft Dynamics)
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications
  • Internship or prior accounting experience preferred
  • Experience with ERP systems or accounting software
  • Basic understanding of reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close
  • Pursuit of CPA certification is a plus

Compensation: $60,000-70,000
Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications.
