Job description

As a CPI Electronics Software Engineer Intern, you will play a critical role developing moderately complex software.  This is an opportunity to apply the fundamentals in the classroom to the software world in the workplace.

If you’ve ever wondered what owning your own business is like, just ask an Employee Owner of Chatsworth Products (CPI). Better yet, become one! CPI has an immediate need for a Electronics Software Engineer Internship in CPI’s Round Rock, Texas location for the Summer and Fall semesters.

As a CPI Electronics Software Engineer Intern, you will occupy a key role in working with and for a company that builds the physical infrastructure that powers, protects and secures the world’s digital technology.  Day to day, the position will require you to develop scripts to enhance customer control and configuration interactions with CPI products.  You will develop additions and support of the application code automation test framework.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Responsibility for carrying out software maintenance and software enhancement activities on projects.
  2. Demonstrates the ability to develop software solutions for assigned tasks, appropriately utilizing good software design principles, best practices, and production specifications with moderate coaching.  Rigorously reviews own work.
  3. Communicates effectively with team members.
  4. Tracks and reports status of assigned tasks, reporting progress to manager. Meets deadlines and objectives, setting priorities with hands on coaching.

Technical Competencies:

  • Currently pursuing a BS Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with PowerShell development strongly preferred
  • Experience with Bash/Linux scripting development strongly preferred
  • Experience with Python script development strongly preferred
  • Linux environment experience
  • General understanding of RESTful APIs
  • Understanding of .CSV (Comma Separate Value) files
  • Experience with Jenkins projects
  • Design and implementation of applications and web apps in Windows environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills are required.
  • Knowledge of C and SQL databases preferred.
  • Other preferred experience includes familiarity with C++, electronic hardware, and test instruments.

PHYSICAL/ENVIORNMENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Works on computer majority of the day.
  • Ability to life up to 50 lbs. to move equipment, file boxes, etc. as needed.
