Job Description:
The BCS Career Coach serves as a key point of contact for business students within the Warrington College of Business in providing career planning, advising, and coaching assistance, and will be instrumental in the direct placement of our business students into internships and full-time employment.
Key responsibilities include one-on-one career advising and broad-based career management support. This includes assisting each student to develop and continually refine a realistic job search strategy/marketing plan for both internship and full-time employment, actively monitoring each student's progress against career goals, and guiding, assisting and holding students accountable in the achievement of those goals.
Serve as a key point of contact for Warrington College of Business undergraduate students in providing one-on-one career planning, advising, and coaching assistance. This includes resume and cover letter critiquing, mock interview critiquing, career assessment assistance, and job/internship offer negotiation assistance.
Aids in maintaining quantitative and qualitative records for various types of interactions for assessment and reporting purposes that demonstrate impact. Records include such things as student appointments per month and overall student engagement, along with responsibilities for tracking and reporting on student internship placement.
Partner with Career and Peer Mentor (CAP) team to facilitate external career development programming. In addition to CAPS, also collaborate with Business College Council (BCC) inclusive of outreach and advising student organizations.
Responsible for the creation and delivery of career development workshops/seminars for both large and small groups of business students, along with participating as a team member in special events such as career fairs, advisory board meetings and professional development events. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of experiential learning trends and best practices.
Maintains relationships with Heavener academic advising team to increase student engagement with BCS and to collaborate on successful student outcomes.
POLICY MAKING AND/OR INTERPRETATION
Follow existing University of Florida policies. Work with the Program Director if the need for amendments arises and follow department, college, and university procedures for change on a case-by-case basis.
PROGRAM DIRECTION AND DEVELOPMENT
The Career Coach will play a role in the annual planning and analysis of the overall BCS strategy and be an integral part of accomplishing the offices vision and mission.
COMMUNICATION
The Career Coach will have a high-level of public contact with all Warrington College of Business stakeholders daily. Stakeholders include undergraduate students, faculty, staff, and new and existing corporate partners of the Warrington College of Business. The Career Coach will interact with these individuals on several levels to accomplish his/her stated goals and responsibilities, ensuring a quality career services experience for all involved.
CREATIVITY, STRATEGY AND LEADERSHIP
The Career Coach will play a role in the annual planning and analysis of the overall BCS strategy and be an integral part of accomplishing the offices vision and mission. They will be expected to contribute/create to the creation, delivery, and leadership of career workshops/seminars for both large and small groups, along with the leadership of student ambassador groups related to career and professional development.

Required Qualifications:
Master's degree in an appropriate area; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience.
Preferred:
  • Strong customer focus (ability to listen attentively to students and recruiters and to understand and respond positively to their requests is required
  • Master's Degree and two (2) years of professional experience (minimum) in any of the following functional areas of business such as marketing, management, finance, information technology, sales, retail, career and professional development, career counseling, corporate/campus recruiting, or human resources.
  • Experience working with populations from different backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of industry relations, employment trends, student development, career services a plus.
  • Ability to work independently along with the ability to work collaboratively across the team.
  • An entrepreneurial orientation, proven track record of taking initiative and making things happen (i.e. self-starter)
  • Excellent resume, interviewing and job search skills
  • Highly proficient with web-based resources, spreadsheet and presentation software required (MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and Excel)
  • Ability to work under pressure, with the flexibility to respond to changing priorities and fluctuating workloads
  • Strong organizational work skills, defining tasks, prioritizing assignments, and following through on all projects independently
