Job description

Be a part of our 10-week Internship Development Program, where you will have the opportunity to apply knowledge gained through your college courses. Becoming a life actuarial intern is a great way to enhance your actuarial foundation and knowledge and gain insight into our industry. Interns are placed into meaningful roles that have an immediate and integral impact on the business. The internship will be based in our Nashville, TN office and will run from June 1, 2027, through August 6, 2027.

What You Will Do:

  • Actuarial professionals have the pivotal role in driving the results at Fortitude Re and are integral to the company's success with their expertise in quantitative analysis, insurance pricing, valuation, and risk quantification.
  • Specifically, the Fortitude Re Life Actuarial team is responsible for determiningreserve valuations and financial reporting; developing long-term projections of our insurance products to be used for a variety ofinternal analytical and regulatory purposes; performing experience studies; and setting assumptions for Life, Annuity, and Accident & Health blocks of insurance.
  • Interns will join our life actuarialteam which offers a unique opportunity to obtain core technical knowledge and professional skills across business lines. In addition to the experience acquired on the job, interns will complete a capstone project on a cross-functional team and have the opportunity to learn directly from senior management.
  • The comprehensive Internship Development Program offers classes on various aspects of the business, opportunities for volunteerism, presentations, panels, and social events.

What You Will Have:

  • Fortitude Re seeks rising seniors who have excelled in previous work experience, demonstrated outstanding academic and extracurricular achievement, possess strong analytical, quantitative, and interpersonal skills, and are enthusiastic about and committed to the insurance industry.
  • You must graduate between November 2026 and July 2027 to be eligible for this internship opportunity.
  • The ideal candidates will be bold thinkers with an entrepreneurial spirit and will possess a powerful blend of IQ (technical skills, consistent learning, statistical & financial acumen) and EQ (adaptive communication, empathy, listening skills, challenging with humility).
  • We also look for a diverse background of experience, culture, and thought. Successful candidates typically have a global perspective and a record of successful teamwork.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who have already passed at least one actuarial exam administered by the Society of Actuaries.
  • Candidates must be available to work in Nashville for all 10-weeks of the program. In addition to competitive compensation, relocation assistance will be provided if the candidate is not currently based in or around Nashville.
