Job description

If so, we invite you to join the Employee Services Technology team within Amazon's People eXperience & Technology (PXT) organization.
In this role you will:
1. Lead the architectural design and development of critical platform features, ensuring solutions are highly scalable, maintainable, and align with AWS best practices
2. Drive technical excellence through mentorship of junior engineers and establishment of coding standards, design patterns, and engineering best practices
3. Architect and implement AI powered solutions leveraging AWS services to enable predictive support capabilities and automated workflow orchestration
4. Design and build robust integration patterns between multiple HR systems while ensuring data security and compliance
5. Partner with product and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into elegant technical solutions
6. Lead cross-team technical initiatives and drive consensus on architectural decisions
7. Champion operational excellence through monitoring, alerting, and continuous improvement of system reliability

Key job responsibilities
You will also partner with SDE-IIIs and Principal Engineers in the organization to drive execution of our 3-year architecture plans (3YAP) for the technology as well as drive tradeoff decisions balancing long term vision with delivering immediate impact to our customers. You will be a mentor for SDE-Is in the team, coaching your peers on engineering excellence and leadership principles and partner with SDMs and PMs to deliver team level goals. Lastly, you will also get an opportunity to be mentored by other Sr. engineers in the team and learn from Principal Engineers while working on the goals.
A day in the life
- Write maintainable, well-structured, and testable code to advance your in-flight project and submit a code review to the team
- Design a system to solve an Amazon scale problem and present a design document to the team to build consensus on your recommended approach
- Attend a team-level operations review meeting to understand system health and identify actions we need to take to keep the system available for our clients
- Meet with a customer to understand the problems they are facing, brainstorm solutions, and discuss with your management to affect team priorities
- Review a teammate's code change and raise the bar on team code quality by providing insightful comments
- Research new technologies that could help simplify your team's system and draft a message to the team with your findings
- Root cause and resolve a trouble ticket filed by a customer of your system
- Attend a one to one meeting with your manager to receive support on your work and discuss career development

We are part of Amazon's People eXperience & Technology (PXT) organization, focused on building and evolving the HR Service Desk / A to Z Service Central - a transformative platform that revolutionizes how HR support is delivered to Amazonians worldwide. Our team is at the forefront of developing solutions that combine AI-powered employee relationship management with streamlined workflows.
Our mission is to empower People Services teams to provide swift, accurate, and personalized support while reducing manual effort and improving operational efficiency. We're currently engaged in exciting initiatives including implementing Gen AI solutions, and building innovative features to enhance the employee support experience.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
