What is an internship in psychological operations?

An Internship in Psychological Operations (PSYOP) provides students or recent graduates with hands-on experience in the field of military or strategic communications. Interns typically assist in developing, analyzing, and executing information campaigns designed to influence the attitudes and behaviors of foreign audiences. The role may involve research, content creation, cultural analysis, and supporting ongoing operations. This experience offers valuable insight into the intersection of psychology, communication, and national security, and can be a stepping stone to careers in defense, intelligence, or public affairs.

What types of projects or tasks can I expect to work on during a psychological operations internship?

As a Psychological Operations (PSYOP) intern, you can expect to participate in tasks such as researching target audiences, assisting in the development of communication campaigns, and analyzing the effectiveness of messaging strategies. You may also be involved in creating multimedia content, supporting field operations, and collaborating with cross-functional teams, including intelligence and public affairs personnel. This hands-on experience helps you build analytical, communication, and teamwork skills while gaining a deeper understanding of how psychological strategies support broader organizational missions.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an internship in psychological operations?
