Job Summary:

The Assistant Construction Project Manager supports the Project Manager in planning, coordinating, and overseeing construction projects from start to finish. This role involves assisting in project scheduling, Submittals, and coordinating with various teams to ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and to quality standards. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and a passion for learning and growing within the construction industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Project Support and Coordination:
    • Assist the Project Manager in the development of project plans, including scope, schedule, and budget.
    • Help monitor and track project progress, identifying potential issues and helping resolve them.
    • Support communication and coordination between project stakeholders, including clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
  2. Document Management:
    • Maintain project documentation, including contracts, drawings, change orders, and submittals.
    • Ensure all project-related documents are organized, up-to-date, and easily accessible for the project team.
    • Assist in preparing and submitting permit applications and regulatory compliance documentation.
  3. Schedule and Budget Management:
    • Assist in tracking project schedules, ensuring key milestones and deadlines are met.
    • Help monitor project budgets, tracking expenditures and assisting in cost control efforts.
    • Prepare regular reports on project status, budget updates, and schedule forecasts for review by the Project Manager.
  4. Subcontractor and Supplier Coordination:
    • Help coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure materials and resources are delivered on time.
    • Assist in reviewing subcontractor bids, and tracking deliverables.
    • Work closely with subcontractors to resolve any on-site issues or concerns that arise during construction.
  5. Risk and Issue Management:
    • Identify potential project risks and assist in developing strategies to mitigate them.
    • Assist in troubleshooting problems that occur during the construction process, escalating issues to the Project Manager when necessary.
    • Monitor compliance with safety protocols and help ensure that the project adheres to safety regulations.
  1. Client and Stakeholder Communication:
    • Support client communication, providing updates and addressing concerns as needed.
    • Assist in preparing and delivering presentations and reports to clients and other stakeholders.
    • Help manage stakeholder expectations and maintain strong relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
  2. Quality Control and Compliance:
    • Assist in ensuring all work is completed in accordance with project specifications, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
    • Conduct regular site visits to monitor project progress and ensure compliance with safety and quality guidelines.
    • Help implement corrective actions when quality or safety issues are identified.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in the construction industry, preferably in a project coordination or support role.
  • Familiarity with construction processes, project management methodologies, and industry regulations.

Preferred Skills:

  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in construction management software e.g., Procore, MS Project and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Basic understanding of budgeting, scheduling, and construction documentation.
