Position Type: Internship, Part-time or Full-time options
Reports to: Weekend Miracles Program Manager
Internship Stipend: Monthly stipend of $500-$1000 (depending on commitment and degree level); academic credit available
Work Location: Houston, TX. Hybrid: in general, half-time remote and half-time at outreach, advocacy, and fundraising events.
To support the goals of the organization, Kidsave is currently seeking an energetic and organized intern to support its Weekend Miracles Houston Program.
The Weekend Miracles Program works to match older foster youth with host families who spend at least two days a month with the child. By mentoring and advocating for an older child in foster care, the host family has a direct role in helping him or her to find an adoptive family.
All intern contributions are supplemental to the work of Kidsave staff and are intended to enhance the intern’s learning experience. Intern tasks are structured to provide exposure to nonprofit program operations, outreach, and advocacy. While interns may assist with administrative and programmatic activities, all work is performed under supervision and as part of a guided learning experience.
Learning Activities & Educational Experiences
Supervision and Educational Structure
All interns will receive ongoing supervision and guidance from the Weekend Miracles Program Manager or a designated Kidsave staff member. Intern activities are structured to provide a meaningful educational experience aligned with academic and professional development goals. Interns will receive direction, feedback, and support throughout the duration of the internship. Interns will perform duties with appropriate supervision and will not be responsible for program operations, decision-making, or participant outcomes.
Ideal Candidate Background:
Kidsave welcomes applicants who demonstrate strong organizational, administrative, and interpersonal aptitude. Successful interns tend to be motivated, dependable, and proactive learners.
They must have the ability to multi-task and perform work in a fast-paced team environment, intermediate to advanced computer skills, strong written and verbal communication skills, stellar organizational skills, and an interest in Kidsave’s mission.
The ability to quickly learn new software and tools is necessary for success.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, as well as Adobe Acrobat is required.
Knowledge of Canva, Clickup, and Salesforce is preferred, but not required.
Educational / Additional Requirements:
The internship offer is contingent upon your successful completion and passing of a criminal and child abuse background clearances.
