An internship program is a structured work experience offered by organizations to students or recent graduates, allowing them to gain practical skills and industry knowledge in a real-world environment. Internships can be paid or unpaid and typically last for a set period, such as a summer or semester. Responsibilities may include assisting with ongoing projects, conducting research, attending meetings, and collaborating with full-time employees. Interns often gain exposure to industry tools and workflows, receive mentorship, and participate in professional development activities. These experiences are designed to help interns develop practical skills, build a professional network, and better understand potential career paths within the organization.
