A Brief Overview
The Supervisor of Cardiac Rehabilitation is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the outpatient cardiac rehab program, including clinical operations, staff supervision, and compliance with regulatory standards. This role combines leadership, program development, and direct patient care to ensure high-quality, evidence-based services.
What you will do
  • Oversee daily operations, staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation. Ensure compliance with AACVPR, JCAHO, and hospital policies.
  • Manage equipment maintenance and readiness.
  • Assist with budgeting, billing coordination, and data reporting for reimbursement.
  • Recruit, orient, and evaluate staff and interns.
  • Validate competencies and provide ongoing education.
  • Coordinate internship programs and maintain compliance with legal requirements.
  • Perform patient assessments (history, vitals, EKG interpretation, exercise tolerance testing).
  • Monitor patients during sessions for safety and progress. Document patient progress and communicate with physicians.
  • Develop and update individualized exercise prescriptions.
  • Manage patient referrals, intake, insurance verification, and registration.
  • Support pulmonary rehab initiatives and community education programs.
  • Assist with AACVPR program certification and quality improvement initiatives

Education Qualifications
  • ADN Required or
  • Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Physiology or related field Required
  • BSN Preferred

Experience Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years in cardiac/pulmonary rehab and stress testing Required
  • Prior supervisory experience Preferred

Skills and Abilities
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Proficient in EKG interpretation and emergency response
  • Ability to manage staff and outpatient program operations effectively

Licenses and Certifications
  • Basic Life Support Certified - American Heart Association within 30 Days Required
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Certified - American Heart Association within 30 Days Required
  • Certified Cardiac Rehabilitation Professional - American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Preferred
