Job description

The Dietitian provides quality patient care in collaboration with the Nutrition Services Manager. He or she identifies patient needs and participates with the direct care team in the development and execution of the Multidisciplinary Care Plan. Compiles and evaluates data in preparing Nutritional Assessments and Care Planning in compliance with established Standards of Practice. Evaluates patients at nutritional risk and provides appropriate nutritional intervention. Assists as needed in preparation and distribution of meals.

EDUCATION:
Minimum:
• BS in Dietetics plus 1 yr. internship or equivalent
LICENSE:
Minimum:
• NYS Dietetics-Nutrition License
• Registered with The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics
WORK EXPERIENCE:
Minimum:
• Experience in diet therapy and food service management in a health care facility.
SKILLS:
Minimum:
• Required to be self-motivated to take responsibility for nutritional care of all assigned customers; committed to work within time constraints
• Able to work well with other disciplines and operational team members of Nutrition Services Department
• Independent thinker
• Able to work with best interest of patients'/residents' needs/wishes to ensure quality of life
• Display sound judgment in prioritizing work assignments.
• Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion and ability to deal with the public in a professional and courteous manner.
• Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities and enhance the spirit of teamwork through effective role modeling.
• Computer literacy required with word processing, spreadsheets, power point.
Preferred:
• Experience with Microsoft Office products including word, excel and power point.
