Job description

Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop low voltage secondary power distribution systems for industrial projects.
  • Select and specify equipment such as control panels, panelboards, transformers, circuit breakers, cables, and other electrical devices.
  • Perform electrical calculations, including:
    • Voltage drop analysis
    • Ampacity and Derating
    • Cable sizing
    • Raceway fill
  • Prepare electrical cable schedules, panelboard schedules, equipment layout, raceway routing drawings, wiring diagrams, setpoint schedules, bills of material, and specialized details.
  • Review engineering specifications to ensure designs comply with applicable codes and standards such as the NEC, IEEE, IEC, and internal company standard requirements.
  • Coordinate electrical designs with heat trace project engineering lead, engineering management, project management, project controls, and construction teams.
  • Attend customer meetings to provide technical expertise as it relates to secondary power distribution design.
  • Support procurement by reviewing vendor drawings, technical submittals, and equipment specifications.
  • Provide engineering support during installation, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Review customer drawings, specifications, and write technical requests for information (RFIs).
  • Occasionally conduct site visits to verify existing equipment, sketch field designs, and support project execution.
  • Assist in developing power distribution engineering standards, design procedures, and best practices.
  • Support project schedules, cost estimates, and technical documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Utilize software such as AutoCAD, Navisworks, Bluebeam, and in-house design tools.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or similar.
  • 3 to 7 years of power distribution system design experience.
  • Strong understanding of electrical codes, standards, and safety practices.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and project coordination skills.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license, Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification, or desire to obtain licensure.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Navisworks, MS Suites, and SAP is an asset.
