Job description

UNCLASSIFIED PART-TIME POSITION IN THE DEPARTMENT OF BEHAVIORAL HEALTH & DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES (EMPLOYMENT FOR THIS RECRUITMENT WILL BE NO MORE THAN 29 HOURS PER WEEK) Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED required, supplemented by vocational or technical training in cooking, baking, culinary arts or a related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Specific License or Certification Required: ServSafe Food Safety Certification issued through the National Restaurant Association is preferred. Specific Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities: Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in performance of the essential functions and learn, comprehend, and apply all county or departmental policies, practices, and procedures necessary to function effectively in the position.

Examination: The examination will consist of an evaluation of education and experience, accomplished by analysis of the application. Application must document that the applicant possesses the minimum knowledge, skills, education and experience as listed to be rated as qualified. If selected, an official, accredited college transcript is required, at time of employment, for all degrees/course work used to qualify for this position.

Purpose of Classification: The purpose of this classification is to perform defined duties related to providing food services, including preparing breakfasts, lunches, and snacks; serving food; cleaning kitchens and cafeterias; maintaining inventory and records and supervision of interns and volunteers. Essential Functions: The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification.

Other duties may be required and assigned. Prepares meals: follows approved and prescribed menu for breakfast, lunch, snacks and special diet items; performs chopping, slicing, mixing, measuring and other prep tasks, cooks and warms food to proper internal temperatures according to safety guidelines; inspects quality of food, anticipates and preps food for next meal; operates all equipment in accordance to safety procedures. Serves prepared food: regulates meal eligibility/scans badges; regulates correct portion control; maintains record of meals served.

Sanitizes and cleans surfaces in accordance with Fulton County policies and procedures using proper sanitizing, cleaning and degreasing solutions; cleans all equipment, utensils, pots, pans, dishes and trash cans; maintains cleanliness of refrigerator, freezer and storeroom. Maintains inventory and documents; inspects food and supply delivery against order; correctly stores products in appropriate location, completes daily refrigerator and freezer temperature log, labels all food and non-food products by date, completes food and supply requisition form. Supervises interns and volunteers: coordinates and trains interns and volunteers.

Additional Functions: Performs other related duties as required. Performance Aptitudes: Data Utilization: Requires the ability to determine, calculate, tabulate, or summarize data/information, following a prescribed plan requiring the exercise of some judgment. Includes performing subsequent actions in relation to these computational operations.

Human Interaction: Requires the ability to exchange information for the purpose of clarifying details within well established policies, procedures and standards. Equipment, Machinery, Tools, and Materials Utilization: Requires the ability to use simple tools, equipment or machinery requiring little or no training. Verbal Aptitude: Requires the ability to utilize a wide variety of reference and descriptive data and information.

Mathematical Aptitude: Requires the ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; the ability to calculate decimals and percentages; the ability to utilize principles of fractions; and the ability to interpret graphs. Functional Reasoning: Requires the ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagrammatic form. Involves semi-routine standardized work with some latitude for independent judgment concerning choices of action.

Situational Reasoning: Requires the ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness and creativity in situations involving the evaluation of information against sensory, judgmental, or subjective criteria, as opposed to that which is clearly measurable or verifiable.
